Dr. Alma Mikulinsky: Online Curator’s Talk

Watch an online lecture by Dr. Alma Mikulinsky, guest curator of Guernica Remastered, Remai Modern’s newest exhibition. This exhibition positions Picasso’s Guernica (1937) as a model for activist, political art, featuring the work of several contemporary artists who have emulated the painting’s composition while speaking to a variety of present-day concerns.

Dr. Alma Mikulinsky is an art historian who specializes in the work of Pablo Picasso. Her writing has been published by Tate Modern and the Musée National Picasso–Paris, and she is the author of Picasso Ceramics from the Nina Miller Collection, as well as of a book on the sculptor Sorel Etrog published by Art Canada Institute. She was assistant professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and held a visiting assistant professorship at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago de Chile. She currently works as a curator, art consultant, and is Director of Partnerships and Intellectual Infrastructure at Innovate Cities.

Mikulinsky also works internationally as a curator, curating exhibitions in Canada, China, Israel, Latin America, and Europe. Her curatorial work includes a critically recognized exhibition of Picasso’s ceramics in Hong Kong and exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Windsor, The McMichael Canadian Art Collection and Remai Modern.
