Maria Hassabi STAGING (2017) undressed
New York-based artist and choreographer, Maria Hassabi has developed a distinctive practice in which she explores the relationship between the body, the still image, and the sculptural object.
Situated between dance and visual art, Hassabi’s live installations are defined by slow, sustained sequences of movements and are characterized by extended and challenging performance durations. Sited throughout the museum’s public spaces, the artist—with Jessie Gold, Hristoula Harakas, and Oisín Monaghan—perform the piece of long-form choreography, derived from her recent project, STAGING.
